Overview

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Fractional Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join our team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of technical expertise and leadership experience, offering strategic guidance and oversight to our technology initiatives. This role requires a blend of technical acumen, strategic vision, and leadership capabilities to drive the technological direction and innovation within the company.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technology Strategy and Vision:

  • Develop and communicate a clear technology vision and strategy aligned with the company’s business objectives and growth plans.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure the company stays at the forefront of innovation.
  • Define and implement the technical roadmap, ensuring scalability, security, and robustness of the technology stack.

2. Leadership and Team Management:

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the engineering and technology teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in recruiting, developing, and retaining top technical talent.
  • Establish clear goals and performance metrics for the technology team, conducting regular reviews and providing constructive feedback.

3. Product Development and Innovation:

  • Oversee the development and delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable software products and solutions.
  • Ensure effective project management practices are in place to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Drive innovation by exploring new technologies and methodologies to enhance product offerings and improve development processes.

4. Technical Oversight and Governance:

  • Provide technical oversight and ensure best practices in software development, architecture, and infrastructure.
  • Implement robust security measures and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, processes, and procedures.

5. Business and Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the executive team to align technology initiatives with business goals and objectives.
  • Communicate technical strategies and progress to stakeholders, including executives, board members, and investors.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as product management, marketing, and operations, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of technology initiatives.

6. Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with technology vendors and service providers.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements through the use of technology.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a proven track record as a CTO or similar position.
  • Extensive experience in software development, architecture, and infrastructure management.
  • Demonstrated success in leading technology strategy and driving innovation in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, including agile methodologies and DevOps.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and technology stacks.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and scalable infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data protection regulations.
